Abstract Pieces of You (Poem)

For Malcolm,
My soulmate, my happiness, the sickness & the cure.
Tuya, Margarita (Poet730)

Abstract Pieces of You

In the tiny creases along my heart
The faultlines and scars
That is where your love resides
Breathing, pulsing from within
Every other pretend existence
To become the only reality that
(could ever)
Makes sense
Substitutions could not measure up
Abstract pieces of you
Longed (subconsciously) for the original
As I foolishly looked
Almost took too long
Could've lost you
Ashes swept this wonder away
Gone
In the blink of an eye
The type of a sentence
A decade spiraled out of control
Left to hold the broken parts
Of a love I used to
(still)
Know
As easily as breathing
Slipped right into you
And I
Am forever changed
Yet so much of this is familiar
Sweetness of us
Mixes with the bitter taste of
Eleven years of them
Knowing time
Love
And dreams
Wasted
Beauty outweighs the destruction
Crumbling hearts know
Our path laid out in past lives
Future stories
Wielders of both the torment
And the cure
We each have our demons to face
Nothing - good or bad -
Will ever disappear
Breathe you in
Inhale your essence
Bask in the darkness
That pain
(Pain I gave)
Has created
Revel in the truth
That Fate
Love
Us
Can not end the way we did
So many words laughter caresses
Left
To discover
Recover
To invent
Until a heart stops beating
Tears subside
This is our story
On my soul it resides
